Canon R6 Mark II: How to Replace the Default Viewfinder Eyecup or Eyepiece

In this post, I will replace the default eyepiece eye cup on the Canon R6 Mark II. The standard one is extremely small and I like to replace it so it extends a little further out. This prevents my nose and face from constantly touching the screen while looking through the viewfinder.

The Replacement Eye Cup

The Eye Cup piece I bought was this one. It is a lot bigger and longer, which makes it much easier to use.

Tools Included

The replacement comes with a small screwdriver.

It also includes screws, but I keep and use the original screws instead. The screws are extremely tiny, and it looks like they give two extra ones just in case.

Step-by-Step Replacement

  • Flip the camera upside down.
  • Undo the two screws to remove the standard eye cup.
  • It can often help if you open up the screen so you have a little bit more space.
  • Take out the original eye cup.
  • Put the new long eye cup on.
  • Put the screws back in and tighten them. Make sure it is on there securely.

Before and After

The new eyepiece eye cup has been attached.
